East Journey, The Genesis Project (featuring Yothu Yindi) EP package design.
East Journey’s Producer and Manager, Susan Sandery presented me with the original rough pen sketched concept of the Banyan Tree with a bird and I then developed the cover illustration in close consultation with Susan.
The Banyan Tree, crow (white bird) and Orange-footed Scrub Fowl (at base of tree) are all significant symbols for the Yolngu people of Arnhem Land.
The super-cute little guy featured in the artwork is TJ, grandson of Dr Mandawuy Yunupingu (former Yothu Yindi frontman).
